Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Can I connect Skelly Chest Light Kit to Skelly's Dog?

A: Unfortunately, the Skelly Chest Light Kit isn't compatible with Skelly's Dog.

Q: What batteries do I need? Can I use batteries and adapter at the same time?

A: Skelly's Dog can be powered either by an adapter or batteries.

  • If you use the adapter while the batteries are still in, the power will come from the adapter.
  • However, we recommend removing the batteries when using the adapter for optimal performance.
  • You'll need 4 x 1.5V C batteries to power the Dog.

Q: Is Skelly's Dog compatible with external timers?

A: Unfortunately, Skelly's Dog is not compatible with external timers.

We suggest using the built-in timer. The timer setting can be turned ON on the control panel on the Lower Body (K).

Q: What's the function of the remote and what can I do if it's not working?

A: The Remote Control allows you to:

  • Turn Skelly's Dog ON/OFF
  • Change eye displays from up to 20 ft away
  • Use the indicator light to confirm it's working

The remote requires 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries.

Important: The remote does not work in Timer mode. You'll need to manually change functions on the control box (located on the Lower Body - K).

Q: Skelly's Dog eyes are not turning on, all I can see is 2 flashing red lights on the control box. How can I fix it?

A: This can happen after a power shut-off (like from a timer or power strip).

To fix it:

  • Remove the batteries.
  • Unplug the adapter from the control box, wait ~1 minute, then plug it back in to reset.

For smoother operation, try turning the Dog off/on directly using the control box.

Q: Skelly's Dog eyes are not turning on. What can I do?

A: Let's troubleshoot it together!

Step 1: Check the control box (Part K) — do you see a red light?

If not:

  • Try a different adapter and/or fresh batteries.
  • Skelly's Dog requires a 1.5A Outdoor adapter or 4 x 1.5V batteries.

If yes:

  • That means power, adapter, and control box are working correctly.

Next, connect the head (Part O) directly to the control box (Part K) and power it on.

If the eyes still don't light up:

  • It's likely an issue with the head — consider replacing the eye kit.

If the eyes do light up:

  • Great! Now check all electrical connections throughout the body (see steps 2.1, 3.2, 4.1 in the instructions).

The eye lights connect through the following parts:

  • Lower Body (K)
  • Chest (J)
  • Neck (N)

If the eyes stop working at any of these points, that part may need to be replaced.

Example: If the eyes work with the control box and lower body, but stop at the chest — the chest may be the issue.
